thanks for replying!
honestly that was one of my main concerns about art center. i went to visit a few weeks ago and i could sense the feeling that everyone's sort of just looking out for themselves, so to speak. but it's a prestigious school and i'm always blown away by the work they produce there and that's why it remains a consideration for me. anyway, good luck with your studies! keep posting awesome work :)
To be honest, I think like most things in life, the experience is what you make of it. What initiative you take to build community and friendships will be up to you. I’ve already noticed a good bond developing between our first term group. We share a lot of classes together. I am also a bit older, already having studied for my Bachelor’s degree at a University. So with that comes a different level of experience and maturity. If you’re looking for the “typical college experience”, just be aware that Art Center is not it haha. It’s for very focused people who want to develop their skills and make their way into the creative field. If you want dorm-life, social community, etc, Art Center will not really provide that in the prototypical way. But it’s a wonderful place, and I get the sense that faculty really want you to succeed and grow. It’s a fast learning curve :) Let me know if you have any other questions and best of luck with your discernment!
hi, saw your work on designersof :) i'm planning on going to Art Center in the fall for graphic design. how's your experience there?
Hey there! Nice to hear from you, and that you’re coming to Art Center. It’s definitely a good experience, but it’s challenging in the way that you really are expected to perform at a constantly high level. It can feel a little isolating at times too, but they make a big effort to develop community. What is your interest in majors?
